The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

Meet The Cast and Crew

Lily Allen as Mother Abbess

A junior in Vocal Performance, this is Lily's debut with Lee Theatre. She participates in Opera, Theatre, and Chorale and plans to pursue graduate school for a master's in music.

Alysse Brendtke as Baroness Elsa Shraeder

Theatre major with a minor in Musical Theatre, Alysse worked as sound board operator in Lee Theatre's Sense and Sensibility, "Constable Joe" in Tuck Everlasting, costume designer in Where Have All The Lightning Bugs Gone, "Tiresias" in Antigone, "Bubbie" in Crossing Delancey, assistant stage manager in Jack's Tale, sound designer in Beware the Licorice Vines, and hair and makeup in It's a Wonderful Life. She plans on working in the theatre department at Lee, gaining experience in all branches of theatre through acting, design, and directing, with hopes that theatre will continue to be the platform the Lord uses for her to be a witness to the world.

Minnie Brock, Props Mistress

Theatre major with minors in Graphic Design and Media Writing, Minnie played "Mama" in Lee Theatre production Jack's Tale and was the set designer for Beware of the Licorice Vines. Minnie's future plans involve earning an MFA in set design and becoming a set designer and graphic designer for various theatres and entertainment companies. Additionally, she hopes to work as a journalist at some point in her career, writing stories that reflect real life. Her biggest aspiration is to work for Disney as an Imagineer.

Jordan Burchfield as Baroness Elberfeld/Ensemble

Jordan is a junior Liberal Studies major with an emphasis in Classics and a minor in Graphic Design. She worked crew in Lee Theatre's It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show. She is still in the process of determining her future plans.

Madison Cutshall as Sister Margaretta

Madison is a senior Theatre major and has been involved with Lee Theatre's Songs by Ghostlight, The Iliad, The Odyssey, and all of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less, Tuck Everlasting, New Works Playwriting showcase, Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone?, Director's Showcase, and Jack's Tale. She is also a participant in Cru, Film Society, LeeU Cinema, Parade of Favorites, and serves as Alpha Psi Omega President. Madison will be participating in the Disney college program in the fall of this year and afterwards continuing to perform and write for stage and film.

Luke Dobert as Herr Zeller/Ensemble

Luke is a junior Marketing major and has worked as crew on Lee Theatre's Beware the Licorice Vines. He is also involved with Mock Trial. Luke is still determining his future plans.

Baleigh Drummond as Frau Zeller/Ensemble

Baleigh is a senior History major, with minors in Theatre and Classics. She has participated in Lee Theatre's It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, Tuck Everlasting, and Director's Showcase 2021 and 2022. She also serves as the Business manager for Alpha Psi Omega. In the fall Baleigh will go to graduate school, where she will study art history, and hopes to become an art museum curator or art historian. She loves being involved in theatre, and hopes to find more avenues to pursue this passion.

Dakota Dunman as Friedrich Von Trapp

A sophomore Voice major, this is Dakota's first show with Lee Theatre. He is also involved with Lee University Opera and Chorale. He plans to continue to grow in the operatic profession (local and abroad) and is looking forward to future Opera and Theatre experiences at Lee.

Emily Farley as Sister Sophia

A sophomore Music major with Theatre and Musical Theatre minors, Emily played Antigone in Lee Theatre's Antigone, and was Assistant Stage Manager in It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. She has also been involved in Opera Theatre's The "Little" Magic Flute and Pinocchio, as well as Lee University Chorale. Emily plans to pursue a career in the performing arts.

Emma Flannagan as Frau Schmidt

A freshman Theatre Education major, this is Emma's first show with Lee theatre. She plans to teach theatre and direct K-12 shows in the future.

James Daniel Frost as Max Detweiler

Dr. Frost is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of the Opera Theatre at Lee, since 2007

His Lee Theatre and Opera Theatre performing experience includes: Grandpa Prophater in Meet Me in St. Louis, Nika Magadoff the Magician in The Consul, and King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Ellie Hicks, Stage Manager

Theatre Major and Kairos Honors Scholar, Ellie played Fanny in Lee Theatre's Sense and Sensibility, was stage manager for Tuck Everlasting, crew for Where Have All the Lighting Bugs Gone, props master for Jack’s Tale, and Lana Sherwood in It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show. She also serves as Vice President for Alpha Si Omega. Ellie plans to pursue a career in theatre with a focus on stage management and directing. She also hopes to continue acting as the occasion arises.

Cody Hooper as Captain Von Trapp

Cody is a sophomore Vocal Performance major with experience in Opera Theater performances and Lee University Chorale. He plans to attain his master's after undergraduate with the goal of performing professionally and teaching voice.

Maya Huffman as New Postulant/Ensemble and Dance Captain

A sophomore Musical Theatre major, Maya has participated in Lee Theatre's Director's Showcase and Opera Theatre's Musical Review.

She is also a faculty member at Unity Dance Studios: Cleveland. After her time here at Lee she wants to continue performing and teaching dance. Alongside teaching and performing, her ultimate goal is to become a dance captain and choreographer for a theatre company in New York City.

Tanner Jennings as Franz

A freshman Theatre and Cinema double major, Tanner has participated in Lee Theatre's It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, and Director's Showcase 2023. He plans to pursue future opportunities in both theatre and cinema.

Aven Johnson as Marta Von Trapp

Aven is 8 years old and loves dance classes, playing with her sisters, art and music, and jumping on her trampoline.

Freya Johnson as Gretl Von Trapp

Freya is 6 years old and loves exploring, dance classes, playing with her sisters, working puzzles and being outside.

Ada Ruth Larsen, Stage Manager

A junior Studio Production major with a Theatre minor, Ada Ruth has worked on various Lee Theatre productions. She has done props for Sense and Sensibility, light board operator for Tuck Everlasting, was Stage Manager for Antigone, light board operator for Jack's Tale, and Stage Manager for It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. She plans to move to Nashville, Tennessee after graduation to pursue a job in music video or media production and hopes to work in film and TV one day.

Natalie Lashley as Sister Berthe

A freshman Music major, this is Natalie's first Lee Theatre show. She is also a member of Choral Union. In the future, Natalie hopes to become a successful, professional singer.

Caroline Marie Layton as Maria Rainer

A senior Vocal Performance major, this is Caroline’s first show with Lee theatre. She is also a vocalist with the 313th United States Army Reserve Band, and Ladies of Lee. After this semester, Caroline will be departing for a year-long deployment with the United States Army. During that time, she plans to finish her degree online. After deployment and graduation, Caroline plans to attend graduate school and pursue a master's degree in Vocal Performance.

Iris Luce as Brigitta Von Trapp

A senior English Writing major with a Theatre minor, Iris has been in numerous Lee Theatre productions including, Tuck Everlasting, Antigone, Crossing Delancey, and Beware the Licorice Vines. She is also a member of Alpha Psi Omega and Sigma Tau Delta honors societies.

Iris hopes to pursue a license in editing, with the goal of someday becoming a freelance editor, specifically for indie authors. Theatre brings her a lot of joy, and she hopes to continue performing in community shows after she graduates.

Sydney Mallory as Liesl Von Trapp

A junior in Music Education and Music Performance, Sydney has participated in previous Lee Theatre production, Tuck Everlasting. She is the Student Conductor for Ladies of Lee and the Choral Union President. After graduation, Sydney wants to teach high school choir and help out with the school's theater program.

Ainsley Marlowe as Louisa Von Trapp

A freshman History major with a Theatre minor, Ainsley previously worked as tech crew on Lee Theatre's It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. In the future, she plans to work for a living history museum.

Sam Martin as Baron Elberfeld

A sophomore Music major, The Sound of Music is Sam's debut with Lee Theatre. He also works for Lee University tech crew and plays volleyball. Sam plans to work as either a worship pastor or as part of a production crew in the future.

Mariah Moore as Sister Berthe

Mariah is a junior Theatre major with a Musical Theatre minor. This is her first show with Lee Theatre. She is also a member of Campus Choir and a church assistant worship leader. In the future, Mariah plans to publish and release her own music and participate in children’s theatre.

Daniel Puckett as Rolf Gruber

A junior Music Performance major, Daniel played Jesse in Lee Theatre's previous production of Tuck Everlasting. He also participates in Lee Chorale, Opera Theatre, and Alpha Psi Omega. Daniel hopes to continue his studies of music performance at the graduate level and intends to become a professional opera or musical theater performer. Daniel hopes to use the plans and gifts he has been given to further glorify and honor God.

Emma Ray as Ursula

A junior Musical Theatre major, Emma worked as crew for Lee Theatre's production of Jack's Tale and played one of Cinderella's stepsisters in Opera Theatre showcase. She plans to pursue acting or costume design in the future.

Elizabeth Reichenbach as Gretl Von Trapp

Elizabeth is 8 years old and is a member of the Chattanooga Youth Symphony. She has played violin for four years and trumpet for one year. She enjoys gymnastics and participating in AWANA.

Hannah Reichenbach as Marta Von Trapp

Hannah is 11 years old and is active in the arts. She played Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians at Candy’s Creek Elementary School and is a member of the Chattanooga Youth Symphony. She has played violin for seven years and flute for nine months. She attends ballet and lyrical classes, and participates in AWANA.

Simeon Reichenbach as Kurt Von Trapp

Simeon is 14 years old and is a member of the Chattanooga Youth Symphony and Chamber Ensemble and Lee University Symphony Orchestra. He has played violin for ten year. He competes in track and cross country, church youth group and youth worship team.

Marshall Richards II as Admiral Von Schreiber

A freshman Political Science major with a Criminal Science minor, this is Marshall's first show with Lee Theatre. He has participated in Musical Revue and was the Narrator in Pinocchio for Lee University Opera Theatre. He plans to continue opera and theatre pursuits while working toward his degree.
